Description:

The New York State Department of Public Service (DPS or Department) works to: ensure safe, affordable, and reliable access to electric, gas, steam, water, and telecommunications services at just and reasonable rates for New York State customers, protect the natural environment, reduce greenhouse gas emissions via transmission and siting of renewable energy resources, and augment the resiliency of utility infrastructure.

The Engineering Intern will work in the Office of Renewable Energy Siting and Electric Transmission (ORES) which conducts comprehensive environmental reviews and permitting of major renewable energy and electric transmission facilities across New York State. The work being done in ORES is crucial as the Department moves forward through the complex and evolving landscape of balancing utility regulation with clean energy initiatives.

They will work with subject matter experts in forestry, geology, wildlife and wetland biology, engineering, and visual and cultural resources, reviewing siting pre-applications, applications, permits, and project construction plans, as well as compliance with large-scale renewable energy and large-scale transmission projects before the Office.
