Proposal Information

Description:

Environmental Engineering Technician 1 (Reasonable Potential Modeling)

Reasonable Potential Modeling Intern will work with DOW staff to build reasonable potential calculation tool that can be made available to the public and permittees. Reasonable potential is the standard calculation used in the development of SPDES permits to determine when effluent limitations are necessary for the protection of water quality. The tool uses advanced statistics based on the number of data points available to estimate the expected variability of the effluent concentration and compare against water quality standards. There is currently a tool for internal DEC use that needs to be simplified and separated as a stand-alone document with accompanying instructions for public users. Candidates would have experience using Excel's advanced formulas and some familiarity and coursework in environmental engineering or science also required.
