Description:
Looking for a focused, motivated, independent student interested in the fields of geology and hydrogeology. The intern will learn about the Water Supply and Long Island Well Permitting programs and the Well Driller program. The intern will assist staff with the review of current permit applications and modifications as well as historical permit files and will maintain and update a comprehensive data bank of permit information. The intern will assist staff with reviewing, tracking and evaluating pumpage data, saltwater intrusion, and other water quantity and quality concerns, as well as monitoring and tracking permit compliance. the intern will also assist staff in mapping of historical water wells in GIS and work within an existing MS Access database to create a comprehensive water well network map and data bank. The intern will assist staff with special initiatives and perform other Division of Water tasks as needed.
