Description:
The New York State Council on Developmental Disabilities (CDD) is a federally-funded state agency whose primary purpose is to award grant contracts to various entities to test and implement innovative ideas, models, and programs that support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to thrive in their communities across New York State. Additionally, the CDD helps evaluate projects that might later lead to policy and regulation changes in NYS and/or nationally.
Areas that we commonly do grant work in include:
* Employment
* Transportation
* Health and Safety
* Housing
* Education
* Civic Engagement and Advocacy
The CDD also seeks to support efforts that reach individuals with developmental disabilities and their families from culturally and linguistically diverse communities including, but not limited to the following: rural, LGBTQ+, Hispanic, Chinese-American, and new Americans.
All CDD interns should expect to become integral members of our team. Interns play a critical role in the agency's accomplishments and project successes. Interns gain experience in state contracting processes, grant development and implementation, and have a multitude of opportunities to network with a diverse set of stakeholders (other state agencies, provider agencies, self-advocates/advocacy groups, and federalpartners and policymakers.)
The CDD is looking for candidates that are comfortable working both collaboratively and independently on diverse initiatives and tasks, including but not limited to, research, internal-processes, public relations and communications, contracting, grant implementation, as well as, participation and attendance at council meetings, conferences, and community outreach and tabling events throughout New York State.
We are currently especially interested in applicants who have either an interest and experience in social media, the creation of public documents (newsletters, etc.) or program/project evaluation, data collection, and analysis.
The NYS Council on Developmental Disabilities is an equal opportunity affirmative action employer. We strongly encourage people from diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, cultural and religious backgrounds, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and LGBTQ individuals to apply. If you need a reasonable accommodation for any part of the application and hiring process, please contact us at (518) 486-7505.
