Description:
Looking for a dynamic communications internship in the Adirondacks this summer? Play an active role in educating the public on safe and sustainable recreation at events, through social media campaigns, and through development of multimedia or storytelling content. Internship will be a split between office time and time spent outdoors. Interns will participate in a one-day Leave No Trace (LNT) Awareness Workshop and receive continued mentorship from LNT Master Educators to gain valuable knowledge in sustainable recreation, which will pave the way for success in the following tasks:
* Tabling:
o Communicate with the public at recreation information stations and events.
* Social Media:
o Curate social media posts
o Assist with Live streams
o Organize photos and assets for social media usage
* Storytelling:
o Write outdoor-focused articles, recreation highlights, and educational tips for weekly email bulletin and potential video shoots
Interns will report to two Public Outreach Specialists who are both avid outdoor recreators, Leave No Trace Master Educators, and have many years of experience with outreach and education campaigns.
Skills:
Strong, creative writing ability
Highly organized
Experience with social media
Comfortable engaging with community
Must be able to stand for long periods
