Proposal Information

Description:

Internship incorporates an overall survey of the different environmental quality programs within DEC Region 2. There will be a large amount of reading during this internship and afterwards field work. The student must be proficient in using Microsoft 365. Specially, this nine-week internship is broken down into:

* One week of regulation review for both Solid Waste and Pesticides programs and Solid Waste facilities inspections
* One week of Pesticides assistance that includes proctoring weekly exams, and inspections
* One week of regulation review for the Water Programs and e-filing documents
* Two weeks to create a database for Water Program to track complaints and storm water inspections for the program.
* Three and half weeks of Water facilities inspections and site visits. Also assist in drafting the inspection reports, track monitoring of priority waterbodies.
* Two/three days of regulation review for the Air Program

All of our interns will also have the opportunity to attend educational seminars and field trips to key environmental sites around NYC. We work with city, federal and private partners throughout the summer and provide networking opportunities for young environmental professionals. Students may have the option work remotely- this will be discussed during the interview. Students will be expected to work in our Long Island City, Queens office.
