Position Title: Energy Efficiency Intern
Location: Albany, NY
Division: Capital - Energy
Compensation: $17.15 - $22.75 per hour
Duration: June - August 2024
Earlier start date possible for candidates that have in-semester (March-May) availability.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9 am to 5 pm (flexible)
Overview
* The Energy Efficiency Intern will support the Energy Bureau at the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) by assisting in the oversight of programs associated with reducing energy use (e.g., energy audits, submetering) and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (e.g., beneficial electrification) at OPRHP.
-Interns work 10-20 hours per week during the semester and 20-40 hours per week during the summer.
Job Duties
· Assist Energy Bureau staff in implementing energy efficiency, renewable energy, and electric vehicle (EV) charging programs in an effort to meet energy goals outlined in Executive Order 22 (EO22).
· Work with Regional, Capital, and Park staff; as well as contractors, to schedule and implement energy audits at multiple facilities across the state.
· Review energy audit reports and provide feedback to contractors to ensure reports are clear, concise, and technically sound.
· Work with Energy Bureau staff in developing plans for incorporating recommended energy efficiency measures (e.g., lighting, building envelope) and beneficial electrification (HVAC equipment) projects at audited facilities.
· Assist in tracking and reporting on annual energy usage and completed energy efficiency projects at BuildSmart 2025 facilities and measuring progress towards meeting EO22 goals.
· Develop written materials and presentation slides for communicating with multiple audiences on Energy Bureau programs, primarily its energy efficiency program.
· Job duties will be tailored to the intern's skills and interests.
Qualifications
* Current undergraduate (junior or senior) or graduate student, pursuing a degree in engineering, energy, architecture, sustainability, data analysis, or similar discipline.
