Description:
This internship would provide an opportunity to work with DEC engineers and other regional staff for an overview of the different environmental quality programs. The tasks would include gathering information and reading for basic understanding of programs and regulatory frameworks, and then developing regulatory summaries to be used as a reference tool for enforcement efforts coordinated with Conservation Officers. The intern would also participate in inspections and other fieldwork with the goal of testing the effectiveness of newly developed tools.
Work would be conducted from the Region 8 Headquarters, Avon office generally between the hours of 8:30am and 4:45pm. For fieldwork and facility inspections, interns would be accompanied by experienced staff and would need personal protective equipment, including safety boots, eye protection, ear protection, hard hat, and safety vest. This equipment will be provided, with the exception of safety boots which the intern would need to provide for themselves.
