Description:
Duties will include, but not limited to:
- Learning about State Superfund, Brownfields, Petroleum Storage and Spills and Hazardous Waste Management in NYC.
- Assist Region 2 DER staff in tracking and managing sites that are of greatest public interest.
- Reviewing existing database information on remediation sites.
- Go on site visits, attend stakeholder meetings and review remedial work plans.
- Update older data as well as inputting any newly acquired information.
- Learn about existing compliance inspections.
- Records Management and Retention.
- Geology/Hydrogeology and Environmental students are also encouraged to apply.
All interns will also have the opportunity to attend educational seminars and field trips to key environmental sites around NYC. We work with city, federal and private partners throughout the summer and provide networking opportunities for young environmental professionals. Students can work remotely and will be expected to work in our Long Island City, Queens office at least part time.
