Description:
Interns will conduct telephone and computer research with and about agencies and public bodies that have responsibilities pursuant to the NYS open government laws, including the Freedom of Information and Open Meetings Laws. Interns will also conduct telephone research concerning agencies and public bodies with interested industry groups and members of the public.
Research will focus on identifying trends concerning agency, public body and public: (i) experience with open government laws; (ii) issues with compliance with these laws; (iii) difficulties and challenges with recent modifications to these laws; and (iv) and suggestions for improvements to these laws. Interns will compile results of research and, working with our staff, assist to formulate proposals for modifications to existing law for consideration by members of the Committee when preparing the Committee's 2024 annual report to the NY Governor and Legislature due in December.
