Proposal Information

Description:

This internship assists the NYS Office for New Americans (ONA) Ramirez June Initiative to fulfill its mission to build capacity at the state level to increase access to services for immigrants with developmental disabilities in NYS.

The ONA Ramirez June Initiative internship responsibilities may include: Assisting the project manager for the Ramirez June Initiative. Supporting Initiative outreach presentations, focus groups, data collection and analysis, and sustainability efforts. Assisting in the distribution of Initiative informational material and maintaining an inventory of distributed material. Developing briefs on initiative findings as well as pressing immigration and disability-related topics. Other tasks assigned may include data entry, social media content creation, administrative assistance such as editing documents, attending initiative partner meetings and taking notes.

The Intern supporting the ONA Ramirez June Initiative will learn about the nexus of state government and community-based organizations that support immigrants in NYS. Learning objectives include an increased understanding of systemic change efforts to support immigrants to access disability services. The intern will develop an understanding of policies affecting immigrants with disabilities. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in Initiative advisory groups related to issues affecting immigrants with disabilities and learn about services for immigrants with disabilities in New York State.
