Description:
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist Region 2 Fisheries, Wildlife, Habitat, Wetlands, Lands and Forests and Marine Resources staff on various projects.
- Learn about environmental permitting matters.
- Participate in site inspections.
- Go on field visits.
- Assist in taking measurements, photographs and recording findings.
- Assist with enforcement of New York State Environmental Laws.
- Support office administration with:
o Records management.
o Paper file management (sort/verify and cull/file).
o Electronic document management (scan/name/e-file).
o Records retention (prepare and package records/create transfer lists/send to retention).
Interns will also have the opportunity to attend educational seminars and field trips to key environmental sites around NYC. We work with city, federal and private partners throughout the summer and provide networking opportunities for young environmental professionals. Students will be expected to work in our Long Island City, Queens, office at least part time, with the option of working remotely as projects allow.
