Description:

* Coordinate field sampling events for the Finger Lakes Watershed Hub's water quality analysis of the Finger Lakes.
* Field collect associated samples, such as water samples for chemical analysis.
* Field collect physical and chemical parameters such as lake profiles, habitat assessment measurements, pebble counts, and field water quality parameters.
* Process samples, including logging new samples, sorting and identification of benthic macroinvertebrates, data entry including various types of field data.
* Prepare field sampling equipment prior to field work.
* Prepare sections of water quality reports, such as species lists or maps.
* Assist Finger Lakes Watershed Hub staff in formatting data according to NYSDEC requirements.
* Perform administrative tasks in support of the Finger Lakes Watershed Hub and Division of Water.
* Complete other tasks which may align with the general thrust of the project.
* Complete a short report (2-4 pages) about their experience that can help guide others in pursuit of a meaningful internship as well as help NYSDEC evaluate its intern program.
* Conduct oneself in a professional manner that reflects positively on SUNY ESF and NYSDEC.

Skills:

MS Office, icluding MS Excel

R-Studio, Python, and/or Visual Studio
