Description:
* Perform field work supporting Mohawk River Basin Program sampling projects including understanding the effects of the invasive round goby on macroinvertebrate communities, assessing Mohawk streams for fecal bacteria impairment, and general water chemistry/macroinvertebrate trend sampling
* Prep field sampling equipment including calibrating and maintaining multi-parameter probes, cleaning equipment and packing gear
* Assist with coordinating volunteer sampling efforts for fecal bacteria
* As needed, assist with Mohawk River Basin Program outreach activities, potentially including the Great Mohawk/Hudson Fish Count, Trees for Tribs plantings, or Water Chestnut pulls
* Assist with GIS projects to support the Mohawk Water Chestnut Workgroup and/or goals of the Mohawk River Action Agenda
* Complete a short report (2-4 pages) about their experience that can help guide others in pursuit of a meaningful internship as well as help NYSDEC evaluate its intern program.
* Conduct oneself in a professional manner that reflects positively on SUNY ESF and NYSDEC.
