Description:
Provide architectural and engineering support for OPWDD's Property Supports' Capital Services Bureau. Capital Services is the architecture, engineering, and code enforcement arm of OPWDD. This internship is a great opportunity to impact the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities through design, construction, and maintenance of their homes and the other facilities that support them. You'll gain experience in small-scale residential and larger-scale capital design and construction, assisting architecture, engineering, and construction teams research and troubleshoot project issues, learning more about the NYS and NFPA codes, and your support helps strengthen our facility data available to the agency.
Typical hours and days of operation are 8:00a - 4:00p, Monday - Friday.
Daily tasks and types of work performed includes, but is not necessarily limited to the following:
*Convert existing hardcopy floor plans to AutoCAD DWG file format.
*Review existing drawing libraries and scan the drawings to PDF file format.
*Organize CAD and PDF files into designated folder locations in PSES's network file structure.
*Verify field conditions and update floor plans to match.
*Assist architects and engineers on local construction projects as needed.
*Provide drafting support for in-house construction projects as needed.
*Data entry, adding new or updating existing information into PSES Capital Services' web-based facility information database.
