Proposal Information

Description:

This position will fulfill field water quality sampling, training audit, and data analysis needs for the NYSDEC's Lake Monitoring and Assessment Section, Citizen Statewide Lake Assessment Program (CSLAP), Albany, NY.
* Report to DEC Central Office in Albany, NY for training and office work.
* Conduct on-site audits of trained sampling volunteers and DEC trainers from CSLAP
* Complete audit checklist and instruct sampling volunteer in proper sampling techniques as appropriate
* Provide additional training as appropriate to CSLAP volunteers, including the use of the NYSDEC on-line data entry program and other procedures outlined in the CSLAP sampling protocol
* Complete report of training audit visit(s) for the Division of Water Quality Assurance Officer
* Conduct lake sampling with DEC Lake Classification and Inventory program as time allows
* Compile and evaluate lake management history and waterbody assessment information for CSLAP lakes
* Implement real time corrections to field data collected by volunteers
* Prepare material for the upcoming season, improve layout and design of field sampling forms
* Check and compile datasets on CSLAP lake characteristics for use in data reporting
* Position involves occasional travel and possible weekend scheduling
* Conduct oneself in a professional manner that reflects positively on U Albany and the Department.
