Proposal Information


This internship is limited to an overall survey of the different environmental quality programs within DEC Region 2. There will be a large amount of reading during this internship and afterwards field work. Specially, this nine-week internship is broken down into:
* One week of regulation review for both Solid Waste and Pesticides programs
* One week of Solid Waste facilities inspections
* One week of Pesticides assistance that includes proctoring weekly exams, and inspections
* One week of regulation review for the Water Programs
* Two weeks of Water facilities inspections
* One week of regulation review for the Air Program
* Two weeks of Air facilities inspections

For facility inspections, interns are required to have personal protective equipment, steel toed boots, eye protection, ear protection, safety gloves, hard hat, and safety vest. Some of these equipment will be provided but interns would need steel toed boots.

All of our interns will also have the opportunity to attend educational seminars and field trips to key environmental sites around NYC. We work with city, federal and private partners throughout the summer and provide networking opportunities for young environmental professionals. Students can work remotely and will be expected to work in our Long Island City, Queens office full time.
