Proposal Information

Description:

Looking for intelligent, quick-thinking and independent individuals to assist us in the Office of Planning, Development & Community Infrastructure (OPD&CI) tasks. The Office is in need of someone to help staff assist with the development and maintenance of the geographic information gateway, a one stop, state-of-the-art website which provides a suite of information and tools including acess to data and an online web mapping application.

Duties include:
Systematically step through current data catalogue (Excel Spreadsheet) to check functionality, validate data linkages, and ensure all data is viewable on the Gateway and accessible either for download or map service ingestion. Remove obsolete datasets from the Gateway data catalog, and ensure that most recent iteration of data is being hosted.

Coordinate with Office program staff and the GIS unit to compile a master list of all NYS funded Downtown Revitalization projects. Create an organizational schema, based in Microsoft Excel or ArcGIS Geodatabase which contains key attributes related to each project, and geocode the full list of projects.

Duties may also include the geocoding of OPDCI grant locations and the maintenance and update of existing OPDCI datasets and metadata as needed.

You will develop relationships with DOS staff, local government officials and other agency personnel, learn about local government/state relations, and come away with a better understanding of State operations.
