Description:

The student intern will primarily provide direct customer service by phone to answer questions and resolve issues for NYSTRS members related to tax withholdings and Form 1099-R. Additionally, the intern may work on tasks related to cash management and vendor maintenance as well as project tasks related to abandoned funds.
The student intern will be responsible for the following duties:
- Process W-4P/Fin 149 forms daily
- Process returned 1099-R forms
Assist with responding to phone calls received on the 1-800 tax line including:
- Reprinting 1099's
- Mailing requested forms
- Advising member of tax status
- Reviewing and advising member of their pension amount and monthly deposit
- Receive and distribute incoming mail
- Research addresses and any additional information needed to respond to inquiries
- Respond to e-mail request for 1099-R reprints
- Cash application for checks received
- Perform maintenance of the vendor master file
- Assist in abandoned funds database maintenance project

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must be full-time college students enrolled as a senior or junior in undergraduate school or a graduate student majoring in one of the following programs: business, finance, accounting, or public administration.
