Description:
* Report to DEC Central Office in Albany, NY.
* Conduct an evaluation of county tax parcel GIS data to evaluate the type of wastewater service present (sewer connection or on-site wastewater system, or none).
* Conduct outreach to counties to gather wastewater service information per tax parcel for their area, if not available currently.
* Develop a state-wide layer, from county data layers, of wastewater service type using geoprocessing tools.
* Develop metadata and a standard operating procedure for how to update the wastewater service layer.
* Conduct other various GIS tasks, such as spatial analysis and map development, and summary data analysis or data analytics for use by NYSDEC Division of Water staff.
* Conduct oneself in a professional manner that reflects positively on SUNY Albany and the Department.
* Complete a short report (2-4 pages) about their experience that can help guide others in pursuit of a meaningful internship as well as help the Department evaluate its intern program.
