Proposal Information

Description:

The NYS Division of Consumer Protection seeks a social media and communications intern to support its Education and Outreach staff. Under Executive Law 94-a (2c), the Division of Consumer Protection is empowered by the NYS Secretary of State to conduct public education and outreach to publicize the work and services of the division. This intern will work directly with the Director of Education and Outreach to inform, educate, and empower New Yorkers on their consumer rights. The Division of Consumer Protection provides vital information to consumers through live presentations, consumer alerts, social media outreach, and more. The social media and communications intern will assist in creating and updating outreach materials and spreading awareness in one or more of these outreach efforts to strengthen our impact.

The duties and responsibilities of the social media and communications intern include the following:
- Scan weekly consumer news and draft posts for DCP's social media channels
- Brainstorm potential consumer alerts based on trending news
- Draft consumer news-related pieces for submission to agency-wide newsletters
- Review and update existing presentations and educational materials
- Develop new presentations and educational materials
- Collect and report on social media impact

The social media and communications intern will work 10-19 hours per week. DCP's office is open Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM. This internship will be virtual. Interns will be supervised by the Director of Education and Outreach.
