Proposal Information

Description:

The intern will provide advice on statewide environmental issues to Legislative staff, counsel and executive staff. Assist in advocating for the Department and state environmental positions at the State level. Assist in obtaining information and policy initiatives from other states that may be of interest to New York in order to make recommendations and suggestions for draft departmental legislative or administrative positions. Responsibilities include:

* Conducting legal and policy research on relevant environmental issues
* Assist in DEC Departmental process
* Responding to inquiries from the legislature
* Attending meetings with stakeholders
* Keep track of potential environmental issues of interest
* Other duties as assigned
*telecommuting may be possible

 

Skills:

Strong writing and interpersonal skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks

Must demonstrate a solid work ethic

Prior legislative experience a plus

Understanding of laws and regulations
