Description:
The DOCCS Office of Victim Assistance is seeking to increase visibility within the State of New York. Their goal is to increase outreach by informing and educating victims about post-conviction services provided by the DOCCS Office of Victim Assistance. They are seeking a Marketing, Criminal Justice, Public Relations student with community outreach or volunteer experience who could outline and develop a plan of action to address that need. The target activities could center around National Crime Victims Awareness week in the month of April, Stalking Awareness, Domestic Violence Awareness, Sexual Assault Awareness, and/or National Day of Rememberance for Murder Victims.
The main task is to develop an action plan with targeted events to inform and educate victims and the general public about NYS DOCCS Post-Conviction Services.
Additional tasks could include: Becoming knowledgeable about crime victim's rights; work on tasks related to the Son of Sam Law, Restitution, Outreach to registrants to update contact information, identify need for services, process and acknowledge registrations.
Hours: up to 10 hours per week (very flexible +/- depending on need)
