Position Description:
The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) in the Finger Lakes region is seeking
Pollinator Garden Stewards to assist Landscape Restoration Program staff in the management of native landscaping and
documenting insect pollinators. Stewardship for the parks in this capacity means that the individuals chosen as Stewards
will act as caretakers over the designated areas and native species. Most project work will occur at Taughannock Falls
and Watkins Glen, with occasional visits to other Finger Lakes State Parks.
* Candidates must be able to provide their own transportation to and from the work site
* Candidates must be self-motivated, able to initiate projects and tasks, have good time management and
organizational skills, and effectively work with others and the public
* Candidates must be comfortable doing manual labor & working outside in all weather conditions
* Candidates must have interest and willingness to learn about horticultural practices and common garden weeds
* Experience with native Finger Lakes flora and insect identification helpful but not necessary
* Experience with hand tools helpful but not necessary
