Proposal Information

Description:

** This internship is approved by Albany Law School as a field placement for academic credit.**

Legal interns at DEC's Office of General Counsel in Albany, New York will provide important support to DEC attorneys by, among other things: conducting extensive legal research using online resources and assorted treatises; drafting memoranda of law; drafting legal papers such as orders on consent, motions, notices of hearing and complaints; attending Pre-Hearing Conferences in enforcement cases; organizing discovery documents for enforcement cases and permit hearings; and generating letters to respondents or permittees. Legal interns also attend internal meetings with other attorneys and technical staff and meetings with external entities.

For Fall 2020, the legal interns will be working remotely using Office 365 applications including Microsoft Teams and SharePoint and will be provided with a DEC email address.

Internships are unpaid.

The number of hours worked per week may vary. For Albany Law School Field Placements: approximately 12 hours per week.

Albany Law School students who are interested in applying to this internship as a field placement must also apply through Albany Law School.
