Fall 2018 Internship Opportunity
Position Summary:
The New York State Office of Mental Health Office of Performance Measurement and Evaluation (NYS OMH OPME) is seeking a student intern to provide support to the NYS HealthySteps Evaluation team in the next phase of qualitative data collection and quantitative analysis.
HealthySteps is a program focused on the social and emotional wellbeing of the family as a whole, with a particular focus on children 0-5 years old and maternal depression. HealthySteps is a program based in pediatric practices that utilizes a HealthySteps Specialist to connect with families and provide integrated behavioral health services and connections to community resources.
The intern will work closely with the Evaluation team to:
* Assist in the completion of interviews with HealthyStep sites (documentation, summarizing and identifying themes in data, co-leading interviews, etc.).
* Assist in the selection of appropriate qualitative and quantitative data analysis methodologies.
* Perform appropriate qualitative and quantitative analysis as specified by the evaluation work plan.
* Prepare written and graphical summaries of findings and project activities for internal and external communications and publications.
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships with OMH and HealthySteps sites.
Qualifications:
* Good written and oral communication skills
* Good organizational and interpersonal skills
* Knowledge of public health and social science qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation methodologies
* Experience analyzing large, complex, multi-dimensional datasets with a variety of tools strongly preferred
* Experience with statistical software (e.g., SAS, R) and database languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL)
* Experience solving analytical problems using statistical approaches
The position requires a maximum of 20 hours/week commitment for the Fall 2018 semester and pays $15 per hour. The position may be extended into the Spring 2019 semester.
