Description:
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is looking for students interested in environmental, geology and hydrogeology fields of study. The intern will primarily support the Region 1 Division of Environmental Remediation staff with building and developing a hydrogeological database for a variety of hazardous waste superfund and brownfield cleanup sites. The intern will gain experience with compiling lithologic data in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification system (USCS) for characterizing unconsolidated sediments. Further, the intern will obtain hands-on experience with managing and analyzing environmental data using state-of-the-art data management and analysis software including ArcMap and Environmental Quality Information System (EQuIS). The intern will have an opportunity to learn about the Department's various Environmental Remediation programs. Students should be prepared to work remotely in response to COVID19 and take part in weekly conference calls.
