Proposal Information

Description:

The Department of State is building a data catalog - a shared database of its business terms, processes, and information systems associated with them - as part of establishing a new data management program. The data catalog will facilitate implementation of the department's data strategy and goal of managing the department's data as a strategic asset.

The intern(s) will support this effort in the following ways:
1. Develop and provide one-on-one, small group, and asynchronous training sessions for data stewards identified by the department's business units. This may include preparation of written and video training resources.
2. Assist with review of new catalog entries for quality and accuracy.
3. Assist with preparation of new online training resources. This may include preparation or narration of presentation slides as well as supporting materials and documentation for data management and any other department programs with similar needs.
4. Support training resource development, helping to develop presentation materials from content developed by subject matter experts. Work may include copy editing, narration, chart development, and building tools to collect/analyze data about students' experience with the new training offerings.

This is a 100% remote work position, open to students of any graduate program located in New York State. Hours of operation are flexible, but must include at least 4 hours at least 4 days each week in the 8am-6pm range Monday-Friday. Interns will be assigned tasks that are expected to require 20 hours per week to complete. The intern will report to the Chief Data Officer at the Division of Data Management.
