Proposal Information

Description:

Interns will assist the 10 Administrative Law Judges (ALJs) in the Office of Hearings and Alternative Dispute Resolution (OHADR) with researching legal issues, organizing and reviewing evidentiary hearing records, communicating with litigating parties, and assisting in drafting notices, rulings, recommended decisions, and other documents related to matters before the Public Service Commission in rate, electric transmission, and other cases; and related to matters before the Board on Electric Generation and Siting in Article 10 electric generation siting cases, including large scale wind and solar renewable energy facilities.

Individual Internship Assignments: Interns will be assigned to pending adjudicatory or legislative matters with an ALJ that will be at various stages of the administrative process. The intern may participate in procedural conferences with the parties and meetings with other Department offices and/or other agencies to discuss technical and legal issues. Interns may also observe and assist ALJs in conducting adjudicatory hearings.

Qualified interns should have strong communication and organizational skills and be self-starters. They should have an interest in environmental and energy matters, administrative law, and procedural issues. There may be legal education and other opportunities with the Department's Office of General Counsel.
