Proposal Information

Description:

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is looking for student interested in environmental, geology and hydrogeology fields of study. The intern will primarily support the Region 1 Division of Environmental Remediation staff with building and developing a hydrogeological database for a variety of hazardous waste superfund and brownfield cleanup sites. The intern will gain experience with compiling lithologic data in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification system (USCS) for unconsolidated sediments and Department of Transportation guidelines and requirements for characterizing consolidated sediments. Further, the intern will obtain some hands-on experience with managing and analyzing environmental data using state-of-the-art data management and analysis software including ArcMap 10.3 and Environmental Quality Information System (EQuIS). The intern will also have an opportunity to learn about the various Environmental Remediation programs.
