Proposal Information

Description:

Student candidates will learn theory and practices specific to the field of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling (ASAT) and Network Program following the Therapeutic Community Model. Students will observe and participate in therapeutic groups under the direct supervision of ASAT counseling staff. They will assist staff in completing initial assessments, risk assessments and participate in development of Relapse Recovery Plans. They will also become familiarized with the Shock Incarceration Program, and the Criminal Justice System, from courts, to incarceration and release to the community. They will also develop clinical skills and professionalism while maintaining ethical standards in the field.

Student will work the day shift except for one day per week, student will be expected to work 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
