Proposal Information

Description:

The Office of Public Safety (OPS) is recruiting a student intern to assist in the research of evidence-based and innovative policing programs in regard to the GIVE Initiative. The intern will assist in the review and tracking of reports and statistics submitted by the participating GIVE jurisdictions. The intern will also assist in the development and implementation of the SharePoint system being developed by GIVE and the Crime Analysis Center Program. The incumbent will assist in the facilitation of technical assistance offered by OPS to criminal justice agencies across New York State, including the annual DCJS Symposium.

Daily tasks include researching evidence-based and innovative policing programs across the country to assist local agencies in their GIVE implementation efforts. The intern would also be responsible for engaging with local criminal justice agencies to determine technical assistance needs and researching potential sources of technical assistance to enhance implementation. Lastly, the intern would be involved in the implementation and management of the SharePoint system and ensure that the user lists are up to date and the information on the site is current and relevant.
