Proposal Information

Description:

The Department of Civil Service is the central personnel agency for the Executive Branch of New York State government, serving approximately 150,000 State employees. In this capacity, the Department oversees the administration of the civil service merit system, as well as the New York State Health Insurance Program.

The Department's Public Information Office is seeking a student intern to support the Division's communication program and portfolio. The incumbent will assist the Division in increasing overall visibility and publicity of agency initiatives and programs to the public, and develop enhance public outreach by incorporating various aspects of print and digital aspects into the agency's marketing strategy. In addition, the incumbent will assist in developing internal communication standards and strategies and assist in the continued overhaul of agency websites.

Graduate student interns work at a rate of $17 per hour. We are mindful of students' academic schedules and are willing to be flexible based on projects and various academic commitments.

Duties:
* Develop and design marketing materials that are effective and aesthetically pleasing.
* Review of current publications and undertaking of design adjustments to improve readability and better convey messaging.
* Propose new strategies to enhance social media outreach and visibility.
* Research and compile briefs outlining new opportunities to enhance agency initiatives and programs.
* Assist staff in updating SharePoint intranet site to enhance design and layout of web pages.
* Upgrade agency forms into fillable pdf files to make them navigable and user-friendly.
* Assist administrative staff with office operations, such as records management, reporting, and filing.
