Proposal Information

Description:

This position will fulfill environmental data processing needs for the NYSDEC's Finger Lakes Water Hub in Syracuse, NY. Data processing will focus on water quality information related to Finger Lake watersheds.
* Document all available and existing data relating to water quality, land use, bathymetry and fisheries data for all 11 Finger Lakes and their watersheds.
* Characterize existing data based on availability, ownership, reliability, Quality Assurance Project Plan status, and if was analyzed in an ELAP-certified lab.
* Manage and store available data on NYSDEC's drives.
* Complete other tasks which may align with the general thrust of the project.
* Complete a short report (2-4 pages) about their experience that can help guide others in pursuit of a meaningful internship as well as help the Department evaluate its intern program.
* Conduct oneself in a professional manner that reflects positively on SUNY ESF and the Department.

 

Skills:

MS Office including Excel

Statistical software including R

Good analytical skill set, organized

Knowledge of freshwater ecosystems

Water quality management
