Description:
If you are interested in graphic design, digital and print layout, journalism, event, or public relations work, the New York State Office for the Aging has an internship opportunity for you this semester. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of our Public Information Specialist 2.
If you are chosen, you will be working in our small but dynamic Communications Bureau assisting with public information tasks. Your work days will primarily focus on assisting the bureau with preparation for our presence at the New York State Fair. You will help produce material for print, web, and social media platforms and have the opportunity to write articles for our web site in journalistic AP style. You'll also help us organize and update our inventory of effective print materials, and be instrumental in reorganizing our Bureau's digital data and file folders.
What You'll Be Doing:
* Assist the bureau with all aspects of preparing materials for the New York State Fair
* Under the supervision of agency PIS2, you will help edit, develop, produce and distribute print and web media content. You will have the opportunity to assist with developing ideas, writing and publishing digital content to the agency website, IG, Twitter, and FB pages.
* Participate in the Communications Bureau weekly meetings
* Collaborate with the communications team to help identify stories related to agency programs, policies and initiatives that can be promoted through the bureau
* Assist with reorganizing and managing a library of print and web content, and to ensure that internal and external staff and partners have access to those resources
* Assist with other tasks as assigned
