Description:
BASIS FUNCTION:
The Real Estate Intern will provide planning, research and analytical support to Empire State Development's (ESD) Real Estate and Planning in order to enhance ESD's urban planning, real estate development and real estate transaction efforts.

WORK PERFORMED:
* RESEARCH:
o Compile information on properties in ESD's real estate portfolio
o Perform due diligence and research related to development companies, urban planning efforts and real estate development projects.
o Research other topics in real estate and economic development as needed.
* ANALYSIS:
o Perform analyses to support the planning and development of specific real estate parcels and areas, including analyses related to property values, rents, taxes, environmental and historic features, re-uses, zoning, etc.
o Evaluate real estate opportunities for the agency.
* COMMUNICATIONS:
o Develop presentations, procurement documents and various other communications with respect to real estate and economic development.
o Prepare development recommendations on specific ESD real estate projects with respect to use, zoning, feasibility, bulk, or other considerations.

Education Required:
* Candidates pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees will be considered (graduate preferred)
* Current coursework in urban studies, business, political science or similar field in progress.
* Interest in economic development, real estate and most importantly New York State.
Knowledge Required:
* Knowledge of economic development, real estate development, public policy, urban planning and design, and/or other related fields.
