Proposal Information

Description:

The Division seeks an intern with an interest in data management and digital government to support several summer term data quality improvement tasks. The Division has developed an extensive system for tracking records related to more than 1,700 not-for-profit cemetery corporations operating across the state. The intern will help the division to assess and improve the quality of these records to support better monitoring and execution of key goals and mission.

The position entails the following specific tasks:

(1) Quality review of annual reports received in 2017 and 2018. Using a documented procedure and checklist, review a sample of annual reports processed by the division for accuracy and completeness of information in electronic records against the original hard copy or PDF submissions. Collect data on quality review to assess completeness and accuracy of the population of processed reports. Develop recommendations for changes to procedures for processing 2019 reports.
(2) Research and track down missing profile information for cemetery corporation records, such as location of grounds, email contact, and federal employer identification number. This entails both online research and direct outreach to cemeteries by email and phone.
(3) Contact cemeteries that are overdue to file reports through mail and phone follow-up.
(4) Support general office administrative support tasks such as filing records, organizing electronic files, and responding to phone inquiries as directed.
(5) Other data curation and review tasks as assigned.
