Proposal Information

Description:

DEC's Division of Environmental Permits (DEP) administers a system of environmental permits under the Uniform Procedures Act, designed to protect our natural resources. DEP also oversees the implementation of the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQR). This internship will provide an opportunity to be involved with DEC's efforts to protect New York's natural resources and environment by:
* Working on data quality initiatives for spatial data, using GIS and georeferencing tools.
* Participating in testing a new online permitting application; and developing help text and guidance.
* Aiding with the review, writing and organization of DEP's website content.
* Creating forms and help text for use on DEC's website.
The intern will learn about the various permitting programs administered by the agency, the information resources important in analyzing impacts to natural resources, the management of these data, and will help improve our website content.
