Description:
The New York State Office of Mental Health's (OMH) Planning Office is seeking a student assistant to provide support for the agency's strategic planning and reporting efforts. This will include work on a web-based, interactive data dashboard and assisting with the research and development of the agency's annual plan.
The OMH Planning Office is responsible for local, regional and statewide planning of mental health services across New York State, and provides strategic planning support for other agency divisions. The Planning Office authors reports, maintains the agency's Strategic Plan, directs Regional Planning Consortiums, and advances strategies to improve the behavioral health and wellness of all New Yorkers.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist in the identification of appropriate data sources within national, state and local behavioral health data repositories.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of behavioral health prevalence and service data.
- Enter data and perform data quality review.
- Prepare, design, and organize visual data dashboards within data visualization programs.
- Develop data-driven infographics for annual report.
- Author written content for annual report.
- Provide research support on various behavioral health programs and policies.
Preferred candidates will have Experience with Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or other data analysis and visualization software; working knowledge of data visualization and organization; and an understanding of web and/or graphic design principles.
