Proposal Information

Description:

The Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking an Intern to work within the Division of Agricultural Development to provide program support for the Food Export USA-Northeast organization for New York State businesses. Food Export USA-Northeast is a non-profit organization that promotes the export of food and agricultural products from the northeast region of the United States in foreign markets.

The selected student will be a contract employee with Food Export USA-Northeast, located in Philadelphia, PA, but will work from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Albany office and will be supervised by New York State's Agricultural Development Staff.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
a) Update and maintain the Food Export USA-Northeast database of New York companies involved in or interested in exporting food and select agriculture products.
b) Provide assistance in organizing and planning international marketing activities to agricultural products with Food Export USA-Northeast staff.
c) Promote and recruit companies for specific activities sponsored by Food Export USA.
d) Conduct research and create reports based on products or markets that are related to state company interests.
e) Create and develop materials on the various export programs.
f) Generate success stories of New York companies that have participated in Food Export USA-Northeast activities.

Duration: May 2019 - September 2019 (Start date is flexible and there is the possibility for an extension beyond September).

Pay: $13.00 per hour

Hours: 20-30 hours per week. Work hours are flexible between 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
