Proposal Information

Description:

The FORCES Monarch Intern will primarily work to improve habitat conditions for Monarch butterflies by monitoring milkweed patches and removing invasive species. The Monarch Intern will also work to collect monarch eggs before field mowing, raise monarchs to release at the preserve, coordinate with monarch citizen scientists, survey for Black swallowwort, assist with forest plot data collections and create interpretive materials for invasive species awareness week. Interns will have the opportunity to: build communication skills, learn to identify native and invasive plants, and broaden their understanding of local ecology.
