Proposal Information

Description:

The Hale Creek Field Station in Gloversville, NY is managed by the Bureau of Ecosystem Health, Division of Fish and Wildlife, and is the facility for DEC's Analytical Service Unit and the Ecotoxicology Research Team. The Field Station was formerly a fish hatchery which was repurposed as an analytical and research laboratory. The raceways as well as the fish ponds now hold fish for display and educational purposes.
The interns will assist in the maintenance of the raceway and fish ponds at optimal condition for fish and other aquatic laboratory animals (amphibians, invertebrates, etc.). In addition, the interns may serve as caretakers of the fish and other aquatic animals and can participate in laboratory studies on aquatic ecosystems conducted at the Field Station.
