Description:
The goals of QMC Internship Program are listed as follows:
1) To train the prospective Information Technology Quality Assurance professionals to practice strategic leadership that promotes a vision, mission, values, beliefs and goals for higher quality of Information Technology software applications and infrastructure.
2) To provide the prospective Information Technology Quality Assurance professionals with the knowledge of best Quality Assurance practices that result in an environment of accountability and high standards for all IT software applications and infrastructure.
3) To provide a program of work experience that enhances the prospective Information Technology Quality Assurance professionals' understanding of the role that the workplace culture contributes to the performance of each worker and the achievement of collective goals and understanding the power of good teamwork.
4) To develop the prospective Information Technology Quality Assurance professionals' skills to create quality testing process and testing artifacts including test plan, test scenarios, test cases, test scripts, defect reporting, and testing result reports.
Primary duties of the Student Assistant will be:
1) The interns will report to the Quality Assurance Manager of the Quality Management Center at the Department of Labor. Some of the Interns might be transferred to OTDA QMC at 40 N. Pearl Street or OCFS QMC at 52 Washington Street Rensselaer after training at DOL QMC.
2) The interns will work closely with the Quality Assurance team on all aspects of functional testing.
3) The interns will attend project scrum meetings and interact with developers, project managers, business analysts, etc.
4) The interns will learn different tools such as testing tool, application life-cycle management tool and defect management tool.
5) The interns will learn the concepts of testing, testing process, database validation and be able to actually create both manual and automated scripts, which include record, modify, and replay testing scripts, report defects and testing results.
6) The interns will enhance their problem solving skills by learning how to efficiently solve the problems in their projects.
