Description:

The NYS Office of Information Technology Services, Public Safety Cluster is seeking energetic, intelligent team player who will provide immediate value to the organization! We support the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, the New York State Police, the Division of Corrections and Community Services, the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, the Office of Victim Services and the Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence.

Our systems make use of industry leading technologies to prioritize and preserve the public safety for the citizens of New York State.

The ideal candidate does NOT need to possess expertise with all the relevant technologies but must have a solid foundation in the specific principles and enjoy a challenge!

The Public Safety Information Security Office is dedicated to the protection of the state's public safety data. The office's critical mission is fulfilled through the secure development of IT systems, identification and mitigation of vulnerabilities, response to cyber events, and promotion of cyber security awareness within the agencies we service. The Office is also responsible for maintaining compliance to Federal and State-wide policies, standards, and guidelines relating to cyber security.

As a member of the PSC Information Security Office, the incumbent will be responsible for the hands on day to day operations of cyber security programs, including, but not limited to, the following:

* Vulnerability Scanning (Web, Internal, External)
* Intrusion Protection Systems (IPS)
* Antivirus/Malware (alert remediation, patching, and incident response)
* State Information Security Policy Compliance
* Security Awareness Training
* Project Secure Systems Development Life Cycle
* Network Security design and evaluation
* Mobile Device Management
* Cyber security Incident Response
* Identity Access Management (EIAM)
* Shared services security Assessments

Preferred qualifications:

Preferred candidates would be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program with a major in Computer security, or related field and have:

-- Familiarity with the NIST 800.53 security framework,
-- Experience with vulnerability scanning and penetration testing platforms,
-- Security policy, standards and guideline development
-- Writing skills, developing secure systems implementations.
