Proposal Information

Description:

The Office of Electric, Gas & Water consists of sections that perform technical work related to electric rates and tariffs; electric distribution systems; bulk electric systems; electric, gas and water policy coordination; gas rates and tariffs; gas policy and supply; water company regulation; and electric, gas and steam safety. The intern would primarily work with the gas pipeline safety section researching Commission Orders related to gas pipeline safety regulations and natural gas incidents that resulted in changes to Title 16 NYCRR, Chapter III, Gas Utilities, Sub-chapter C, Safety, Part 255, Transmission and Distribution of Gas. The project scope is to provide a chronological listing of Commission actions from 1976 to 1990 related to the gas safety regulations along with a brief analysis of the Commission's action. This project may be expanded to include Commission actions related to other Parts under Title 16 NYCRR, Chapter III, Gas Utilities, Sub-chapter C, Safety as well as Title 16 NYCRR, Chapter IV, Steam Utilities, Sub-chapter C, Safety, Part 420, Distribution of Steam.
