Description:
The Department of State (DOS) Division of Affirmative Action (AA) Programs ensures that the mission of the Department of State is accomplished while advancing affirmative action and promoting equal employment opportunities and diversity programs within the agency. The Division also aims to assure that minorities, women and service-disabled veterans owned businesses are offered equal economic participation in all DOS procurement.
DOS is committed to providing an environment free from discrimination and/or harassment and retaliation on the basis of all federal and NYS covered protections, and to eliminating barriers to the participation of minorities, women and service-disabled veterans owned businesses in NYS contracting.
The Division of Affirmative Action Programs is responsible for securing DOS' compliance with the Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (MWBE) and the Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses (SDVOB) requirements, through the review and monitoring of all DOS procurement documents; the dissemination of informational materials and directives to programs and grantees; training sessions, technical assistance and participation to MWBE and SDVOB events.
Tasks and duties:
1. Assist with locking in and updating contracts in the New York State Contract System
2. Assist with collecting, reviewing and filing Grantees/Contractors' MWBE forms
3. Assist with generating quarterly MWBE utilization performance for submission to Programs
4. Assist with preparing and updating MWBE/SDVOB data for quarterly reporting
5. Assist with contacting grantees with outstanding audits
6. Organize MWBE, SDVOB and AA files and maintain all logs updated.
The Division operates Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Students in Business Administration or Public Administration would be preferred.
