Proposal Information

Description:

The New York Department of State's Division of Consumer Protection (DCP) is charged with the Protection, Education and Representation of issues affecting New York consumers. DCP's core functions are consumer assistance; identity theft prevention and mitigation; educational outreach on consumer issues and product safety; intervention on behalf of consumers in utility proceedings; and development of policy and legislation in aid of consumers.

The DCP is seeking interns for the summer 2018 semester who will work with the Division Director and Program Attorney researching and analyzing consumer issues, drafting reports on consumer issues, drafting consumer alerts, updating the Division's website, and assisting with special projects.

* Research and analyze issues affecting consumers and develop outreach strategies and materials.
* Draft consumer alerts to be published on the Division's website or distributed to the Division's community partners via the Division's email list serv.
* Assist with the Division's social media by researching and drafting content related to consumer protection, product safety and injury prevention.
* Update the Division's website with new and current information and suggest improvements.
* Assist with the planning and execution of outreach events and special projects, including the Division's consumer product testing program.
* Draft consumer reports
