Proposal Information

Description:

There are currently a large number of moderately sized projects in progress at various State owned facilities in various levels of completion. The work collectively includes pre-design site evaluations, HVAC system additions, building system renovation projects, commissioning and retro commissioning of building systems and plumbing projects.

Specific work duties related to projects:
Multi-discipline teams design and manage numerous capital construction projects for multiple NY State agency clients. Projects are primarily facility infrastructure replacement projects involving HVAC, fire protection, plumbing and other associated equipment. Projects range in size from small single trade equipment replacement projects to large multi-trade multi-million dollar facility renovations or additions. Team members are involved in the full life cycle of these projects, from initiation, through scope development, design and support of designs during construction. Additional team work includes the preparation of engineering studies of existing facilities, quality/peer reviews and internal process improvement projects. The team manages numerous projects simultaneously.
The role of the intern will be to provide support as needed. Project specific work duties may include: field surveys, equipment data collection and selection, basic design calculations including heating and cooling load, flow calculations, pressure loss, and application analysis and vendor research. In addition, conduct research of mechanical systems products, including chillers, computer room air conditioners and valves. Assist with the preparation and quality review of CAD drawings, technical specifications, reports, forms, cost estimates, and letters. Review contractor mechanical equipment submittals for compliance with specifications. Assist in the research and documentation of client requirements and processes and with internal process improvement projects.
