Proposal Information

Description:

Create ArcGIS shapefiles, perform geoprocessing, digitize maps, QA/QC shapefiles, data management functions consistent with NYS DEC GIS standards. This position will provide an opportunity to learn about many of the NYS DEC programs including, environmental quality (water, air, remediation, waste management) and recreation/natural resources (lands, forests, wildlife, parks).

Deliverables, as determined by project needs:
* Creation of shapefiles
* Digitize maps
* Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of shapefiles
* Assist with documentation of shapefiles (metadata)
* Perform geoprocessing, as needed

These deliverables will be used by Office of Communication Services to support the NYS DEC's development of an online interactive public website. GIS intern will be supervised by OCS staff.
