Description:

The UniteNY Voice Networks team is responsible for the administration of a large (50,000+ users) Cisco Unified Communications environment. The environment is a Hosted Collaboration Solution maintained by NYS with support from Cisco Systems. This infrastructure serves as the backbone for the majority of phone, voicemail, video, fax and enhanced 911 services for NYS government agencies on a unified IP network. A wide range of skills including IP networking, VoIP, system administration, statistical analysis and programming are utilized daily while supporting the environment.
Specific duties may include:
- Participate in the planning, documentation and execution of system upgrades and design changes
- Configure VoIP call routing, voicemail, enhanced 911 services and phone provisioning.
- Participate as a level 3 helpdesk resolver for advanced VoIP/Unified Communications problems.
- Diagnose problems using network packet captures, SIP traces, system logs and custom reporting tools.
- Engage vendors for troubleshooting and design assistance as needed.
- Coordinate with other networking teams on joint projects and problem resolution.
- Assist with installation of networking and server equipment along with associated cabling.
- Assist in the creation and modification of scripts for automation of tasks (Python).
